Permanent Makeup FAQs
Does it hurt?
If only I had a pound for every time I've been asked this!
For eyebrows I use a digital machine which is considered much less traumatic to the skin than microblading, so causes less bruising and bleeding.
I use the same machine for lips so, while some minor discomfort and skin irritation should be expected for both treatments, you may be able to lessen the tenderness and irritation experienced during your treatment by following the advice which will be provided to you before your appointment.
I'm on medication, will that stop me having permanent makeup?
It really depends on the medication you're taking, and for what. I will ask you at your consultation appointment, as it may be that my insurer requires a note from your Doctor giving you the okay to have the treatment.
I'm prone to cold sores, does this affect the lip blush treatment?
If you've had a cold sore before, it is likely you will experience an outbreak. We strongly advise you taking Aciclovir or L-Lystine tablets 5 days before and 5 days after your lip blush treatment.
How long will my permanent makeup last?
This really depends on your body, your aftercare and your lifestyle.
For eyebrows I recommend a colour-boost between 12 and 18 months to keep the colour strong and visible.
For lips, a colour-boost is recommended between 18- 24 months to keep them looking beautiful.
If you have a very fast metabolism, strong lymphatic system etc., do not follow the aftercare advice or if your face is exposed to the sun regularly, then your permanent makeup may fade more rapidly.
How long does the appointment take?
This isn't a treatment we want to rush, so I ask you to allow up to 3.5 hours for eyebrows and 2.5 hours for lips so that I can ensure everything is perfect for you. During this time we'll discuss your desired outcome, draw an ideal shape, select the pigment colour and then get to work! Once finished, you'll be given full aftercare advice so you can keep your permanent makeup in tip top shape and I'll see you again in 6- weeks for your top up.
Is it safe?
Not only have I been trained in the strictest hygiene standards, I have also undertaken training in blood-borne pathogens, and my premises have been inspected and approved by the local authority as a safe environment to undertake this treatment.
Needles are sterilised, sealed and single use - so you'll see me open it just before starting the procedure. Full PPE is worn for the duration of the appointment.
Do I keep my natural brow hair?
Every client wants a natural brow, so I won't remove any hair unless it falls massively outside the desired shape. I'll always check with you first to make sure you're happy. After your brows are completely healed, you can still tweeze/wax/thread to keep them in line!
How long does permanent makeup take to heal?
This differs between brows and lips, and the healing process is explained fully at your consultation. Eyebrows take around 2 weeks to heal and lips are superficially healed within around 10 days.
